This Feline Calicivirus, Herpesvirus, Chlamydophila, Mycoplasma Real-time PCR Kit can be used to detect FCV, FHV, Chlamydophila felis and Mycoplasma felis nucleic acids in feline nasopharyngeal, throat and eye swab secretions.
Basic information
Feline Coronavirus (FCoV) is a common viral infection in cats. It generally causes asymptomatic infection, but can cause mild diarrhea. Most cats infected with a FCoV eliminate virus following infection, but some cats may develop a persistent infection.
Feline panleukopenia (FP) is a highly contagious viral disease of cats caused by the feline parvovirus. Kittens are most severely affected by the virus. It is also known as feline parvovirus.
Giardia lamblia, is a flagellated parasitic microorganism of the genus Giardia that colonizes the small intestine, causing a diarrheal condition known as giardiasis. Giardia infections occur worldwide. It is the most commonly identified intestinal parasite in the United States and Canada among children in day-care centers, hikers, family members, and immunocompromised adults. About 20,000 cases per year in the United States are reported.
Tritrichomonas foetus is a species of single-celled flagellated parasites that is known to be a pathogen of the bovine reproductive tract as well as the intestinal tract of cats. In cattle, the organism is transmitted to the female vagina and uterus from the foreskin of the bull where the parasite is known to reside. It causes infertility, and, at times, has caused spontaneous abortions in the first trimester.
This kit uses fluorescence probe PCR (RT-PCR) method to detect the deserved gene of FCoV, FPV, Giardia lamblia and Tritrichomonas foetus, which is helpful for diagnosis, monitoring and epidemiological investigation of FCoV, FPV, Giardia lamblia and Tritrichomonas foetus.
