What is novel coronavirus diease, COVID-19
Novel coronavirus diease, now named as COVID-19, is caused by SARS-CoV-2, which is now spreading worldwide. In Europe, Asia, Africa, America, almost all continents have found COVID-19 infected cases. WHO escalates risk assessment of Covid-19 to “very high” – as it happened.
Current number of infection

Guidelines on face mask wearing
According to the latest guidelines from Ministry of Health of China. Face masks shall be used as stated below.
Wear masks
- For low to middle alert level areas, in public places such as offices, restaurante, meeting, bus or elevators, you should take one disposable surgical or medical face mask with you. Wear it when the distance to other people is less than 1m. In high alert level areas, always wear disopsable medical face mask.
- For people coughing or with other realted symptoms, wear medical mask or surgical mask.
- For people already recovered from COVID-19 or isolated in house, wear medical mask or surgical mask.
- For public servicing such as hospital, bus station, train station, subway, supermarket, bus and entrance check of other buildings, wear medical mask or surgical mask. In high alert level area, wear KN95/N95 masks.
- For occupasion exposed individuals such as medicals, polices, security, etc, wear surgical masks.
- For doctors and medical team in COVID-19 testing, diagnosis and treatment, and for lab staff collecting, testing, handling and processing COVID-19 related samples and suspicious individuals, wear medical protection masks.
No need to wear
- In places like home, outdoor where no people gather and with good good ventilation, no need to wear masks.
Caution
- Disposable masks can not be re-used after 8hours. Always dispose masks according to CDC regulations.
The diagnosis of COVID-19
Current gold standard for the diagnosis of COVID-19 is RT-PCR together with CT-Scanning. Serological tests such as ELISA, lateral flow tests are served as supplement for aiding purpose. The National Medical Products Administration has licensed 23 products for COVID-19 testing. 15 of which are RT-PCR kits, and the rest are immunological test kits.

Treatment of COVID-19
There is no specific medicine for this disease now. Doctors will prescribe according to the clinical symptoms and available guidelines from local CDC or WHO.

Transmission of COVID-19
The current known source is infected individuals with or without clinical symptoms.
Transmission path
Direct contact with infected individuals or through respiratory droplets produced by an infected person coughs or sneezes. People of all ages can be infected.
Clinical Symptoms of COVID-19
Incubation of this disease is 1-14days, most people can get clinical symptoms in 3-7days.
Fever, cough and weakness are the main symptoms. Nasal congestion, sore throat, myalgia and diarrhoea may also occur in some cases.
