This FMDV and Seneca Virus Duplex Real-time PCR Kit uses a Taqman fluorescent probe to amplify and detect the foot-and-mouth disease virus and Seneca virus SVA genes, which can be applied to the detection of foot-and-mouth disease virus and Seneca virus nucleic acid in tissue samples such as blister fluid, pharyngeal mucus, tonsils, lymph nodes and muscles in animals.

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is a severe, highly contagious viral disease of livestock that has a significant economic impact. The disease affects cattle, swine, sheep, goats and other cloven-hoofed ruminants. Intensively reared animals are more susceptible to the disease than traditional breeds. The disease is rarely fatal in adult animals, but there is often high mortality in young animals due to myocarditis or, when the dam is infected by the disease, lack of milk.

Senecavirus (also known as Seneca Valley Virus, SVV) is a genus of viruses in the order Picornavirales, in the family Picornaviridae. Pig and maybe also cow serve as natural hosts. There is only one species in this genus: Senecavirus A. Senecavirus is a replication-competent oncolytic picornavirus.
